About Us

Founder and CEO Jake Whitfield began his journey to establish Lane 7 and j lefty’s Bar & Grill in 2005. A Tallahassee entrepreneur, Jake saw a void in family entertainment and sought to fill it.

Through his business travels, he saw a resurgence in bowling, but tied to upscale venues with chef-created menus and specialty drinks, all catering to an affluent crowd.

Seeing this trend, Jake decided to use bowling as the anchor for his venture, but he wanted more.

A former professional baseball player with a competitive edge, Jake jumped on the chance to create a unique gathering place for Tallahassee as well as an entertainment destination that would be among the best in the nation. His goal was to reach beyond the social adult group and establish a place where guests of all ages could enjoy the fun.

Jake teamed up with Dr. Richard Thacker, an osteopathic physician specializing in Internal Medicine in Tallahassee and created 7 Entertainment, LLC and together brought on other partners who shared their vision. He then took the “best-of-the-best” attributes of other venues and hired renowned industry experts in design, concept creation, retail entertainment, restaurants, bowling, guest service and management to help bring his vision to reality.
